The unranked athlete out of Fairfield visited Texas A&M on Saturday, picked up an offer and committed on the spot.

“I am happy to be committed,” Oliver told Rivals.com. “I loved the atmosphere on my visit  and the coaching staff made me want to go ahead and commit to A&M.

“Coach Price told me he liked my style and they wanted big defensive backs like me. Coach Chavis told me the same thing and I know he won a lot of games while at LSU, so I know he comes highly regarded.”

Oliver said he hadn’t heard from Texas A&M until Wednesday. He also held offers from Louisiana Tech, SMU, Tulsa and a few others.

As a junior at small school Fairfield, Oliver recorded 17 tackles and one interception and rushed for 869 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is expected to play in the secondary at Texas A&M.

Oliver is the fifth commit in Texas A&M’s 2016 class.
