After a house party gone wrong, Bartlett investigators are wondering whether there's more to the shooting of a 17-year-old boy.
Police say it's still unclear if the Saturday night shooting was gang related, but added that the investigation is moving forward.
Jorden Buttler, 17, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
"I came out here to help," said witness James Karr. "It's something we're not used to here."
The usually quiet neighborhood was shaken up by gunshots Saturday.
"I immediately went up to the person to make sure he was okay," said Karr. "He was breathing, but needed to be laid on the ground."
Karr was one of many neighbors who helped get Buttler to safety. Investigators say Buttler was shot in the forehead after leaving a party at a Bartlett home.
"I just wanted to have a small party for people and it got reposted all over Instagram," said party host Lexis Springer, 16. "I didn't even know those people."
The flyer that turned the small party into one that filled the home with more than 100 people described the event as a "twerk" contest. An image of a gun was displayed next to the word, "security."
Buttler's friends say a fight broke out inside the party after some people who weren't invited showed up.
His friends added that Buttler wasn't involved in the fight, and when he tried to leave the party in a car with other party goers, he was shot in the head. The driver crashed the vehicle.
As investigators work to interview everyone who attended the party, neighbors worry that gang violence is entering their quiet neighborhood.
"We don't want violence in any neighborhood, especially ours," said one neighbor.
Police are asking anyone with information to please contact the Bartlett Police Department at (901) 385-5555.
