MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) – - A violent spike in gun violence strikes the Mid-South over Thanksgiving weekend.

"Not on a holiday, not on a holiday, it's sad to think people just don't care anymore, people just don't care,” one neighbor said.

The shootings started on Thanksgiving night into the early hours of Black Friday and have seemingly been non-stop all weekend long..

“Some kind of incident took place, some guys got into it, two shots were fired,” Randy Williams, an employee of Pure Passion Night Club, said of one of the shootings that happened outside the club early Friday morning.

“I went across the street, and I saw a body lying there, I was like somebody must have gotten shot,” Neighbor Rico Harwell said of a fatal shooting on Powell Ave. in North Memphis Friday.

The weekend left three men dead, including one outside an apartment on Mount Hickory Drive in southeast Memphis on Thanksgiving night.

The next morning, another man was found dead in the front yard of a home on Powell Avenue in north Memphis.

“It's sad to know people don't care,” Neighbor Melinda Young said, “This gentleman was trying to make a living, and now he's lying on the ground.”

Friday night yet another young man lost his life, this time in Cordova after two men dressed in black broke into Jarmelle Jones' home and shot him and his girlfriend.

“He was trying to accomplish his goals, for somebody who doesn't care about life, to come and interrupt that, that's not their job to do that,” Jones' Employer and Friend Neisey Bobo said.

From Saturday night into Sunday morning, almost half a dozen shootings all over the city put several people, including a 15 year old boy, in the hospital.

So far, no one has been arrested.

“When Thanksgiving's over with, you ain't got nothing to be thankful for,” Harwell said.
