One arrested after Orange Mound shooting - WMC Action News 5

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

One man has been arrested after a woman was shot in the head on Kimball Avenue on Friday night.


According to a police affidavit, Johnny Jenkins and several other people were in an apartment in the 2800 block of Kimball Avenue. He and another man, Trenall Hughes, got into an argument. During the fight, Jenkins went into another room and when he came back, he hit Hughes and started a fight.


During the fight, Jenkins took out a handgun. Everyone in the apartment began to run, and Jenkins fired his gun once. The bullet hit the victim, Felisha Pittman, in the head.


When Memphis Fire Department arrived, they pronounced Pittman dead.


According to the affidavit, three witnesses said they saw Jenkins fire his gun. When officers arrived at the apartment, Jenkins attempted to run away.


As he was running, he threw a gun into the bushes. Officers found the 9mm handgun, and then found a 9mm caliber shell casing in the apartment.


Jenkins was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
