Teens reportedly fight inside Wolfchase Galleria - WMC Action News 5

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Wolfchase Galleria is open as usual on Saturday, but it was a scary scene for shoppers inside after a fight reportedly broke out Friday night.

Chopper 5 captured video of police cars by the food court entrance Friday night. Down on the ground, witnesses say that several teens began running and yelling by the food court, eventually causing a large fight.

Early reports said shots were fired, but Memphis Police Department has confirmed that no shots were fired inside the mall.

Instead, witnesses say teens were throwing large signs during the fight. The whole incident lasted about 2-minutes.

Stores inside were forced to briefly shut down for safety.

No one was seriously hurt during the altercation.

When police and mall security arrived, the apparent fight was over.

"I'm kind of disappointed," said shopper Joe Green. "I hate that that would happen, especially amongst teenagers.

"I definitely think something needs to be done about that, especially after what happened in front of Kroger before the holidays, now this."

"I come here earlier in the mornings normally. I don't come at night," said shopper Dorothy Stegall. When asked why, she responded, "Because it's not safe anymore.

Wolfchase Galleria General Manager Brent Gardner released the following statement Saturday afternoon:

“There was an isolated incident involving disruptive teens that resulted in no injuries due to the quick response by our security team along with the Memphis Police Department. We maintain a zero tolerance policy for all criminal activity as we strive to maintain the best possible shopping experience for all visitors.”

"We have to work together," said shopper Bill Gupton. "We have to team together and help our kids be better, bottom line."
