MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) – Memphis Light, Gas, and Water crews are working to restore power to thousands of customers impacted by Monday morning's storms.

The number of customers without power at 11:45 a.m. was 9,512. As of 11:04 p.m. that number was down to around 2,700 customers without power.

According to MLGW, the majority of the outages are due to downed circuits. Crews are working on a number of overhead lines that are also down.

MLGW reminds customers to use the correct phone numbers to report issues during severe weather.

Customers should call 901-544-6500 to report an outage. MLGW says that its outage reporting system only recognizes phone numbers tied to the customers' utility accounts. If you don't know which number that is, call 901-544-6549 to update the number tied to your account.

If MLGW customers see emergencies such as downed lines or gas leaks, they should call 901-528-4465.
