Couple indicted in 10 count crime spree - WMC-TV

MADISON COUNTY, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A Jackson, TN couple was indicted in Madison County on 10 counts for a crime spree that spanned December 2013 until January 2014. Six of the couple's crimes were against women between the ages of 55 and 83.

Garrett Paige, 26, and Jennifer Morris, 22, committed five of the 10 crimes together, which included burglary, theft, vandalism, aggravated robbery, and vehicle burglary.

They were both indicted for burglary, theft and vandalism for a break in at Aloha Pools located in the 600 block of Carriage House Drive. Investigators found information that Paige and Morris were responsible for the Aloha Pools break in after the couple was arrested for crime committed later in December and January.

The police investigation revealed that after the store had closed for day on Dec. 9, Paige shattered a glass door. Morris, a former employee, entered the business and stole cash from a register. The couple had not been previously charged with this crime and the case was presented directly to a grand jury.

They were also both indicted for aggravated robbery and vehicle burglary for an attack on an 82-year-old woman. On Dec. 12, Morris threatened the woman with a stun gun in the parking lot of Batteries Plus located on Innsdale Cove near Vann Drive. She stole the victim's wallet from her purse, which was in the victim's car. Paige, Morris' boyfriend, was the getaway driver.

Paige alone was indicted for three counts theft for stealing purses at Kroger and one count of identity theft for using a bank card from one of the stolen purses. He stole purses from three different women at a Jackson Kroger store located in the 900 block of N. Parkway during five days in late December.

Paige stole an 83-year-old woman's purse from her cart inside the store on Dec. 23. The next day, Dec. 24, Paige took a 73-year-old woman's purse from her cart, while she was loading groceries into her car. On Dec. 28, Paige took a 55-year-old woman's purse from her cart while she was at the self checkout. Later that evening, he was arrested at the Kroger parking lot. The latest victim's purse was still in his car.

Morris was indicted alone for aggravated robbery from an attack on a 76-year-old woman, whom she knew. On Jan. 7, Morris went to the woman's house on Ellis Drive. Morris attacked the woman with a stun gun and then strangled her. She demanded money from the woman. The victim agreed and wrote her a check. Morris took the check and then left the woman's home.

Two days later, on Jan. 9, police arrested Morris for the robbery and then linked her to the other crimes.

Paige is being held at the Madison County Jail on $265,000 bond, and Morris is being held on $250,000 bond. They will be arraigned Monday, April 7, in Madison County Circuit Court.
