3 women attacked inside their own apartments - WMC-TV

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Police are investigating three cases in which women were attacked inside their apartments at two different Memphis apartment complexes.

The attacks happened in the Highland Hills Apartments, as well as the Crossings at Fox Meadows Apartments. The two complexes are just blocks apart in Hickory Hill.

The suspect sexually assaulted two of the three victims. The attacks happened between midnight at 6 a.m. on Monday, March 10 and Friday, March 21. Police say the attacks appear to be related.

Memphis Police Department describes the suspect as a man standing 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 140 to 160 pounds. In all three attacks, the suspect was wearing a blue or black hoodie and was armed with a handgun. He also has a tattoo on his right hand.

Jalissa Counselor says she has no choice but to move after hearing about the sexual assaults in her neighborhood.

"It's unsafe for us now. Just unsafe," she said. "I'm really kind of like, scared now to stay here because I want to feel comfortable at home and I don't and didn't know this was going on."

Counselor is not the only neighbor who fears what will happen next.

"I just signed a lease but I don't know what I'm going to do with these things going on," said Kenny Eason, whose girlfriend moved back home to Oxford, Miss. in light of the recent attacks. "Now, I'm stuck between either moving because we're separated because all the crime and her [his girlfriend] not feeling safe."
